In so doing, the Center strives to further the knowledge and understanding of turf management in Missouri. The Center seeks to provide MU students with the opportunity for meaning, experiential learning and Missouri's turf industry with technical support and solutions to current problems. Goals To further the knowledge of turf management. To provide answers to current turf management problems through research and related activities. To keep turf professionals informed through outreach and extension activities. To produce students who have a competitive advantage in the job market because of their enhanced understanding of turf management. Turfgrass & Ornamental Learning Center Building Fund The Turfgrass & Ornamental Research Facility at the South Farm is being transformed into a Learning Facility for the Green Industry and will provide research and educational opportunities for students and professionals alike. The current office building is deteriorating with structural defects and needs to be replaced. Fundraising for a new facility has continued for a number of years and we are presently making preparations to develop a site plan to move forward. This new building will be a state-of-the-art turfgrass & ornamental teaching and research facility that will include a library (small conference room), several offices, and a larger conference room (104 occupancy). With the addition of a conference room to the South Farm location, our potential to offer educational programs for students, Master Gardeners, lawn care operators, golf course superintendents, landscapers, sports turf managers and homeowners will increase the visibility of our program and the Division of Plant Sciences. We are at a point to consider a start to this project; however additional funds are required to complete the project.
